Labor listening to music venues

Councils should stop acting like the ''fun police'' and support live music venues, according to a new Labor campaign that aims to connect with young voters, writes Josephine Tovey in the Sydney Morning Herald.

A motion will be put to the NSW Labor conference this weekend calling on the party to support a new ''Labor Loves Live Music'' campaign, which calls on councils to enact planning controls that promote live music and to protect existing venues from vexatious complaints, especially from residents who move in to neighbourhoods where music venues have long existed.
